As we roll into a new year, there’s quite a stir in the direction of fashion. The Chic Streets team was able to interpret some of the leading trends that was previewed on the runways, streets, and stores. Enjoy this glimpse and be sure to contact us for a more detailed report.
The mood for S/S 2005 is optimistic, colorful and bubbling over with energy. Our favorite look spotted on the runway at WWD Magic was the return of the ladylike approach with styles that were demure and genteel. It’s no wonder that this Fabulous 50’s approach is back with the fever swinging styles omnipresent in the new Bobby Darin biopic, Beyond the Sea. Key buzz word for Spring 05’ – feminine.

Color: For the first time color itself is coined as a "trend" both in accessories and apparel. Spring 05’ brings about shades of Blue. Turquoise is predominant (making a comeback from its phenomenal success in 2002), the difference this time around is its execution. The look is all about faceted and smooth turquoise, often mixed with coral for a Palm Beach Chic look. Turquoise will also be a strong hue mixed with other shades of blue and greens for a cool transparent watery feeling. Other key colors for Spring include Angel Skin Pink, Coral, Mint Green and Soft Lilac.

 Accessories:
Pins: Brooches remain a strong staple from Fall into Spring 05'. With the focus on Individuality, Spring 05' is moving toward more retro styled circle pins in gold, either with small stones, seed pearls or enamel.

 Jewelry: With so much emphasis on the earring as well as the brooch, necklaces have taken a bit of a back seat. For Spring ’05 jewelry manufacturers note a return to the Pendant – the larger and chunkier the better. Jewelry trends that will also pop on the radar include: beads and stones that graduate in length, metal clusters, Lucite cubes and bejeweled motifs, particularly the ornate cuff bracelets.

 Hats and scarves: From bucket hats with belted bands to prints with cherries and colorful polka dots, the sporty look of hats are here for Spring. With the Lady like feminine 50’s look, the silk square scarves/wraps are all the rage. Logo - Juicy Couture of course! and flower prints are strong.

Handbags: Keep thinking Feminine. Hottest trends are Foldover envelope clutches, kiss lock frames, Double-handle satchels, purse charms and tassels, and dome shapes.
