Hot Picks

1. Murakami Handbags – from Louis Vuitton. With so many designers looking to artists for inspiration, it was only a matter of time before fashion powerhouse, Louis Vuitton did the same. This playful and colorful selection is a reflection of artist Takashi Murakami for their spring/summer 2003 line. The look is a great adaptation of their signature monogram, yet carries a more whimsical feel with Crayola colors on white leather. Sure to be a big hit among fashion divas.

For those of you on a budget ($400-$1500 for the Louis Vuitton), Chic Streets carries this style manufactured by X0X0. Our style team says they are just as sweet!!

2. Mini Skirts. Up, up and away they go. Yes, the miniskirt is back, with most styles being sporty and touting an A line silhouette. Our most recent shopping excursion to Los Angeles showed this trend in many of the department stores. Remember to try before you buy, as these can tend to ride up and become too revealing. Keep the look simple with the right shoes and a tailored top. Jackets are relaxed shirt styles. Boxy and cropped over camisoles. Also take note to the Safari and Military looks.

3. Corsets and Shapely Bra Dresses. You may be thinking how the average woman will pull off such a look. We wondered the same, as the lithe models sashayed by on the runways in structured bra dresses. Truly this is a look for those who are a modest A or B cup, as there is no room for extra support. Camisoles, on the other hand, can be worn by many more, either alone or layered with a sheer top for a modern evening look.

4. Cargo Pants. Be it long, short, baggy, or rousted, this is a hot trend now! Cargo pants look best in earth tones of beige, khaki, cream, and even black. Although the look is best worn as sporty, many are wearing a gathered look to the ankle with a strappy sandal. Whatever your style may be, this is a hot trend you will see in various modifications. We suggest keeping the look simple with minimal pockets and zippers.

5. Pink. No, we are not referring to the singer (thank goodness), just the hue. From semi precious stones to key accessories like hats and sunglasses, pink has become the color for Spring 2003. Our trend team spotted much of this at recent shows, even accented on apparel. Insiders tell us that this is the must have color, ever since Jenny got her ring from Ben. Whatever the case may be, we think it is feminine and fabulous!
